道東初！アメリカのカリキュラムを基本にした国際人を育てる幼児施設

８年間在住したアメリカから帰国後、2004年に娘を出産しました。初めての子育てに孤独と戸惑いを感じる中、ふと、アメリカのお母さんってどんな遊びをしているのだろう？と思い、インターネットを検索。そこで沢山の英語のわらべ歌やカラフルな洋書絵本に出会いました。英語の歌を歌ったり、洋書絵本を読んであげると、まだ赤ちゃんの娘が大喜びで反応。日常の中で自然に日本語と英語を覚えていく娘を見て、子どもは天才！可能性は無限大なんだ！と感動し、生活の中に英語を取り入れる「英語子育て」を始めました。

娘が２歳からは２人でアメリカ人家庭にホームステイをする「親子留学」を始めました。現地のプリスクールでみたアメリカの「創造性や考える力を育てる、個性を認め自分に自信を持ち、自尊心を育てる」教育に強い衝撃を受け、2010年、わが子のために道東初のアメリカの幼児教育を英語で行うインターナショナルプリスクール「ラーナロット」を開校しました。

世の中はものすごいスピードで変化しています。私たちの子どもが将来、文化や価値観の違う外国人と一緒に働いたり暮らしたりするのは明白です。このようなグローバルな社会で生きていくためには、語学力はもちろん、創造性や自主性、考える力や問題解決能力、そして何といっても自分に自信を持つ事がとても大切です。どの子にも自分に自信を持って、どんどん世界へチャレンジして欲しい。世界へ出ることで、日本の良さも見えてきます。創造性豊かで、異文化に好奇心を持ち、自分に自信が持てる子。そのような子ども達の中から、国際社会で活躍する人材が育つと信じています。

Learn-a-Lot（ラーナロット）は、英語で「たくさん学ぶ」という意味があります。「学ぶ喜び」「新しいことを知る喜び」を、これからも多くの子ども達にひろげ、沢山の子ども達が将来、ここから国際社会へ羽ばたき活躍するお手伝いをして行ければと思っております。

After Living in the United States for 8 years, I came back to Japan and my daughter, Konomi, was born in 2004. I started singing, talking, and reading in English to her and I was truly amazed by how much she absorbed both English and Japanese at the same time. I realized that all babies are full of potential and that lead me to introduce “Eigo Kosodate” (using English in your life with your children) to other Japanese mothers in Tokachi.

I took my daughter to the U.S.A and home stayed with an American family when she was 2 years-old. From that trip, I found that American early childhood education has aspects that Japanese education does not, such as developing creativity, thinking skills, decision making skills, and, most importantly, self-esteem.

We live in a rapidly changing global world, and there is no doubt that our children will be working and living with people from different cultures with different values. To live in a global world, having an international mindset and skills are now a must have, and are as important as learning English communication. This is why I started Learn-a-Lot in 2010, to offer the education our children need to be competent global citizens. My wish is for all children to like themselves, and to have confidence to challenge and reach out to the world.
